Architecture and construction

In this assignment I worked together with Fien Peeters, the structure of the building is the focus. 'Structure generates architecture' is the essence of this task. We start from a discussed project.I analyzed the The royal Belgian Sailing Club by Wim Goes. A solid wood building where the concept of stacking is central. Goes works with wooden beams stacked on top of each other to form walls, on top of that he stacks another wall-hole beams slid together according to a cross connection.With this structure we went to work. With the analyzed structure we designed a fire station located in the harbor area of Antwerp. The idea is that we cleverly deal with the structure to be able to create sufficient qualities such as: large spaces that are connected to each other in a thoughtful way, play with light, sustainable construction, ...
